What is the relation between philosophy and linguistics?

They are disjoint. Linguistics is concerned with language-specific facts, e.g. the structural properties of languages that have post-positions instead of prepositions. Philosophy with purely conceptual questions, e.g. what the logical form is of negative existentials (e.g. Santa Claus doesn’t exist). No overlap, no mutual bearing.
